Traits
What are Traits?
Like being a member of a Clan or not can define your identity, the elements and specialties you wield can define your identity and your personality and looks can, the Traits are what defines who you are as a Shinobi in more ways than one. Traits may define your true character, provide valuable boosts to your previously chosen specialties, allow you the use of legendary items and jutsu, or even enhance your attacks.Starting Number of Traits
- Genin = 1 Traits in total (2 for shinobi without a Bloodline or Secret Technique)
- Chuunin = 3 Traits in total (5 for shinobi without a Bloodline or Secret Technique)
- Jounin = 6 Traits in total (9 for shinobi without a Bloodline or Secret Technique)
- S/Kage = 10 Traits in total (15 for shinobi without a Bloodline or Secret Technique)
- SS/Sannin = 15 Traits in total (20 for shinobi without a Bloodline or Secret Technique)
Why are there different ranks to my Traits?[
As you move up through the Ranks of your village, you will be able to learn much more, while you can also proceed to perfecting and mastering certain skills and specialties. To make things easier for you, we have written down some of the many things you could do with these differently ranked Traits below. Do keep in mind that if you want to increase your physical speed, strength, endurance or reflexes, you will have to follow the set amounts gives below.C rank:As the lowest of the characteristics, these characteristics are small tricks and traits that one might find among genin. This may be specialized training to enhance their speed slightly or perhaps a more close dedication to their specialty than others with the same. While it provides boosts and special abilities, they are easily overshadowed by other Traits of a higher rank. Also at this rank are low level skills such as lock-picking, Lie-detecting, lying. This is where many skills begin to truly develop.
B rank: These more advanced characteristics show definite boosts that provide more solid advantages over other shinobi without them. It is this rank of characteristics that begin to help further define your character beyond their specialties. One can move from simply a martial artist into the top of his class, or an expert engineer of puppets. Beyond that, this would include a deeper understanding of select skills from the C rank.
A rank: As you reach the rank of Jounin this level of Traits opens avenues that lend your character greater boosts and talents. It is at this stage that shinobi become clearly known for their traits and many are considered experts of the characteristics they take. Become faster, stronger, use jutsu that others could only hope to imitate, and even perhaps obtaining a third specialty and broadening their skills. Those with abilities at this level could very well be teachers or instructors to help other shinobi learn similar SC’s or lower ranking version of their own.
S rank: Legends. These Traits are only earned by the best shinobi and only a few more than those who earn them see them in action. With these traits shinobi can dominate the battlefield and show skills that their long years of training have made possible. These are true masters of their traits and as such are usually the best in their fields.
SS rank: The absolute best. These people have the skill and knowledge that they may very well have created their field of study. The mere idea of someone having this level of skill is too much for some people. Those with this level of skill don't even have to think of what they're doing and they can still accomplish it perfectly, every time.
Additional | Important Note
Clanless Extra: As a Clanless Shinobi, you may add one Extra Special Characteristic spot every rank. This is to make up for the lack of a Kekkei Genkai, and making it more rewarding for those who have chosen to be Clanless. Please make use of this and take advantage of it appropriately.
Custom Traits: Though allowed, the creator of any Special Characteristic must understand that once approved for use for their character the approving moderator will promptly put a copy of the special characteristic into this guide under the proper heading. From that point on, it is open to all players and characters that meet the requirements.
Training Optional: So you want to get a shiny new Special Characteristic without spending precious points? Well luckily any SC can be trained so long as you are willing to put time and effort into the topic. While you cannot turn these topics in for any sort of advancement, you can write them up and earn the Special Characteristic free of charge.
Training Requirements:
Upgrading Traits: Upgrading a Special Characteristic is done by either paying the appropriate PAC or training with the appropriate word count. There are limits however in trading up in SC’s.
-The upgrade must pertain to SC being upgraded (If it is a Strength Boost SC, then you must upgrade to the next level of Strength SC’s rather than swapping it for a Lie-Detector SC).
-The upgrade may only go up one rank, no skipping from C to A rank SC’s.
-Upgrading an SC replaces the older SC, thus eliminating the potential to go over the total maximum for a Shinobi’s limit on Traits.
-To upgrade, a Shinobi must have previously bought/trained for the lower ranked Special Characteristic. You may not buy an A rank Speed Boost SC without purchasing first the C and B ranked Traits.
-Once every two months that your character is active you gain an extra SC slot if you submit an update with a new arc for your character, explaining what has occurred since your last arc.
Maximum Boosts: Anything that gives a boost to chakra, speed, strength, or any other improvement perk must follow this guideline. Any SC boosting something may only boost it by 5% per rank. [C rank= 10% boost, B Rank= 15% boost, etc].

Description: Further training in high speed movement has given the shinobi valiant speed that can perform olympic sprinters with no effort. This allows a shinobi who has trained their body for speed to gain the edge in movement speeds. This overall boosts their speed by 15%.

Description: Over a decade or two of constant adapting and training in one’s physical attributes has finally lead them down the path of speed. Having chosen speed as their dominant ability, shinobi with such talent ,this allows a shinobi who has trained their body for speed to gain the edge in movement speeds. This overall boosts their speed by 25%.

Description: At this level, the body is nearing perfection, and it is stronger than before. The ninja is now 25% stronger than a normal S rank ninja.

With this special characteristic a ninja can perform hand seals at 10% faster than counterparts without it.

With this special characteristic a ninja can perform hand seals two times faster than counterparts without it.

It is essentially the practice of moving and manipulating your hands with expert efficiency to the point where they become a blur. With this special characteristic a ninja can perform hand seals threes time faster than counterparts without it.

There are many uses for this characteristic as it can enhance nearly all forms of specializations. It is essentially the practice of moving and manipulating your hands with expert efficiency to the point where they become extremely blurred. Keen Perception users can see the seals, but vaguely. With this special characteristic a ninja can perform hand seals four times faster than counterparts without it.

Description: Conditioning ones body in the art of pain has allowed for the ninja to have a heightened physical endurance. These ninja are so talented in dealing with pain that the user may act as if the physical damage from C - Rank techniques are one rank lower in terms of pain.

Prerequisites: Character must have the “Improved Endurance” Special Characteristic.
Description: Further training in the discipline of dealing with injury has allowed for the shinobi The possessor of this talent has an increased endurance of double that of their peers which makes them considerably tougher.The user may act as if the physical damage from B - Rank techniques are one rank lower in terms of pain.

Prerequisites: Character must have the “Immense Endurance”” Special Characteristic.
Description: The second last level in the art of endurance, having being only accessible to those who have undergone intensive training in increasing their raw power. The user may act as if the physical damage from A - Rank techniques are one rank lower in terms of pain.

Description: The last level in the art of endurance, having being only accessible to those who have undergone decades of training in the face of pain, has led the shinobi to have endurance like that of a titan. At this stage, their endurance boasts that of superhuman levels with shinobi able to withstand life-threatening injury for a heightened amount of time that other shinobi would be dead in their tracks.The user may act as if the physical damage from S - Rank techniques are one rank lower in terms of pain.

Prerequisites: The Character must have Puppetry
Training: A 1600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: Having spent many years surrounded by puppets, the user has finally been able to modify their body and replace human limbs with puppetry ones. This allows users to be able to have four slots within each replaced limb, benefiting the user with surprise weapons that a regular puppet would possess. The downside is the fact that it is less durable than a regular limb but there is not an upkeep chakra cost in order to use. In addition, one needs to be realistic with these attachments and they cannot have human capturing departments, for example. To gain these, please apply for them in the equipment section.

Training: A 600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.

Description: A skill gained by ninja who have begun to specialize in throwing weapons. From a combination of practice and natural talent the ninja starts to acquire an enhanced accuracy which allows them to hit multiple targets in precise locations along with hurling multiple weapons at once with greater speed. On top of this, they are able to analyse and roughly predict the trajectory of a weapon targeted towards them and from there interrupt its path by accurately hurling a similar weapon at the intended threat.

Prerequisites: The Character must have Enhanced Accuracy as one of their special characteristic.
Training: A 1600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: A characteristic bestowed upon those elite ninja whose pin-point accuracy became even sharper through training and experience. They are able to fling weapons at high speeds that can strike down multiple targets with great accuracy as they have a small margin of error. Their range is also phenomenally increased with notable precision over very long distances, making this characteristic a practical necessity for those wielding the bow. Prediction for weapon trajectory is now almost perfect, as they are now able to execute interruptions with near flawless and effortless grace.

Description: The ninja gains the ability of increased power in their smell and hearing abilities. In combat, the ninja can sense the smell of their opponent(s) or target object over a certain range. The sense of smell allows them to keep tabs on the opponents clothing, blood and various other exploitable scents that the target may have. The ninja also gets an increase in their ability to hear, able to hear minute sounds and differentiate the direction and sources of sounds. The increase in these senses allow them an effective range of 20m around their person. With the user becoming extremely focused without manipulating chakra for jutsu/combat after a post, these senses expand to a maximum of 120 meters, allowing them to pick up clues and locate nearly and subjects' movement through direction and natural instinct. There is no limitation on what could be tracked in this range, as if given enough clues and leads the ninja can even track a person across the globe. (Information needs to be gained through logical means when tracking someone, given the potential of the SC to metagame information.)

Physical Requirements: Must Specialize in Medical or Puppetry
Training Requirements: A 600 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: This skill is trained by those who have more extensive knowledge of toxicology such as medical ninja or those who specialize in puppets. Being trained in the art of utilizing poison in either medication of assassination, a ninja uses that knowledge to heighten their own immune system if ever faced with a poison or pathogen. Those with this characteristic are now immune to B-Ranked poisons.
Name: [Tier II] Immunity of the Poison Specialist

Type: Physical
Physical Requirements: Must have Minor Poison Immunity
Training Requirements: A 1600 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: With further experimentation with various poison the user's trains their immune system to a more advanced degree. By applying tolerable amounts of poison into their system daily, they are now immune to stronger levels of poison than before. Those with this characteristic are now immune to A-Ranked enemy poisons, and completely immune to any poisons they personally possess.

- Name: Advanced Stealth
Rank: C
Type: Skill Based.
Description: A skill gained by ninja who have begun to specialize in the art of stealth. The ninja becomes very light and quick on their feet. Their movements no longer create sound and they now gain a natural skill for hiding and camouflage. Along with being able to create no sound, the ninja is now able to suppress their chakra and hide from sensors among a crowd of people, and, when they make an effort, can approach a sensor more closely (5m passive stealth; 10m active stealth) without being detected, even when traveling solo.
Name: Black Ops Stealth
Rank: A
Type: Skill Based
Description: A characteristic bestowed upon those elite ninja whose stealth became even deadlier through training and experience. The ninja now has a Black Ops member's stealth which allows them to move within the shadows like a phantom and completely blend in with darkness, rendering them invisible. Those with this characteristic can easily eliminate shinobi from the shadows, as well as infiltrate buildings with increased ease. Along with being able to create no sound, the ninja is now able to suppress their chakra and hide from sensors among a crowd of people, and, when they make an effort, can approach a sensor more closely (10m passive stealth; 20m active stealth) without being detected, even when traveling solo.

Type: Skill Based
Prerequisites: Must belong to a clan
Training: A 600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: A trait given to ninja who possess an innate talent for the manipulation of clan based techniques and has trained thoroughly to improve their skill. Their power over the the clans abilities has become so considerable that the ninja is now considered a young prodigy by the clan elders. Because of this, the user's clan based attacks cost 20% (rounded up) less chakra to perform, as well as an increased power and size.
Special Effect: Possessors of this Special Characteristic can also grant their own spin to their clan techniques, setting them apart and identifying them as Prodigys. Given the diversity of clans and clan abilities, such distinguishing marks are left to the user's imagination. This effect is purely aesthetic.

Type: Skill Based
Prerequisites: Must have Clan Prodigy
Training: A 1600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: The title given to those elite ninja who've become legendary for their power and mastery over their clan's own secret arts. Being classified as a prodigy during their early years, the ninja has now mastered his clans techniques and has attained great power from their continuous training. The ninja's clan based techniques now cost 40% (rounded up) less chakra to perform and each technique is bolstered both in their power and size. The user can now more effortlessly manipulate the clan's secret element/power even to extent of generating an innate resistance to attacks of the same nature allowing them absorb or nullify such attacks that are of lower rank than the user, although they're still capable of feeling great pain when doing so.
Special Effect: Possessors of this Special Characteristic can also grant their own spin to their clan techniques, setting them apart and identifying them as Masters of their clan arts. Given the diversity of clans and clan abilities, such distinguishing marks are left to the user's imagination. This effect can allow you to make small individual advancements or changes to your clan abilities, these abilities may not grant you a large boost in power, but can add a strategic advantage to your character. This effect is open for discussion with the moderator of your application and may or may not be denied, much like a custom special characteristic.

Training: A 1600 word training is required to gain this special characteristic.
Restrictions: -
Description: After undergoing an intense Doujutsu Transplant, the person has trained vigorously to master their new abilities and has grown accustomed to the use of the eye itself. Despite the handicap of needing more chakra to perform the Doujutsu's techniques, you skill and mastery of the Doujutsu now outmatches many of which have it through inheritance. This allows you to dominate clansmen of your Doujutsu that are of lesser rank to you in terms of Doujutsu. In addition you are able to sustain the activation of the Doujutsu for extended periods of time without losing fatigue.
